Looking Peachy – Using Peach in Your Wedding Colour Scheme

Mention the colour Peach in relation to weddings to people of a certain age and they’ll probably pull a face and proceed to tell you about a 1980s wedding they went to full of puffy sleeves, satin and lace (or in my case wore the colour as a bridesmaid)

OK, so peach weddings then may look a little dated now but it’s still a pretty colour..honest.

But wait! There seems to be a resurgence of this less-than-popular shade..and you know what,  it looks amazing! Teamed with a gorgeous pale mint shade or with touches of  aqua for example,  peach is looking …well,  peachy!

Someone who chose peach shades for their recent wedding was the lovely,  talented photographer Binky Nixon.

I asked Binky why she chose peach…

“Being a wedding photographer I had heard so many people saying we are doing modern colours, no puffball 80s dresses in the colour peach. It got me thinking, actually I love the colour peach and I’m a child of the 80s, so let’s try and revive it, let’s bring it back and show people how fabulous it can look!

With a late September wedding, I knew flower-wise we were entering into the autumnal colours, so oranges and lighter shades of it would be easy for my florist to source. I gave the bridesmaids a swatch to work from and they all picked exactly what they wanted. For the ushers, we ordered peach polka dot bow ties from Etsy..it all tied in quite nicely.

I think the third and final reason was, I had never shot a peach themed wedding so jumped to do it for my own”

As you can see from Binky’s beautiful wedding pictures below, they exactly prove why peach is a fabulous colour scheme for any modern wedding. I love the fact that the bridesmaids got a colour swatch to work from – the result being an array of beautifully toned dresses that suit each individual bridesmaid

Even the wedding transport was chosen to match the peachy shades and the whole effect is stunning.

If you’re unsure about using peachy tones for your bridesmaids, choose a beautiful shade of mint or pale green for the bridal party which will tone beautifully and keep the peach tones for your bouquet.

For the Groom, use succulents and peach flowers for buttonholes, teamed with a mint bowtie.

The whole orange spectrum is quite overlooked for weddings but using shades like peach, coral and apricot can create a pretty nostalgic feel to your decor too.

I hope I’ve managed to persuade you just how beautiful this much-maligned shade can be and not a puffball in sight!
